Dangerous Ink was conceived back in January 2007 by two Glasgow creative’s; Will Couper and Tom Green. They had been part of the Scottish publishing scene for a few years before taking the plunge into the nerve-wracking route of publishing their own magazine. Not surprisingly, one of the toughest points was naming the as yet publication.
The line went; Danger Illustrated, Danger Incorporated, Dangerous Incorporated, Dangerous Inc, and finally, Dangerous Ink. Thanks to Glasgow artist Robert Thomson for starting us down that train of thought.
Anyway, skip to 7 months of hard work later; many late, late nights; caffeine-induced hysteria; tantrums and tiaras; and a well deserved break in Paris for Tom; Dangerous Ink hit the shelves in mid-July: the U.K’s only lowbrow arts magazine!
Skip to the now, and Will left to pursue his career as a writer of fiction (and he’s not half bad), though he still pops back now and then (check the contributor list on the contents page). Yolander Yeo (graphic designer extraordinaire) came onboard, so now we look super funky cool. Awesome.
With this unstoppable team, Dangerous Ink looks forward to not only a great 2009, but a very long life on the magazine racks of bookstores, comic shops, galleries and so on, for a very long time in the future.
