Whilst people from all communities participated in the outrageous acts of violence, arson and looting that took place between 6-10 August, the Summer riots were sparked by the shooting of Mark Duggan by the Metropolitan Police. This month’s Keep The Faith looks at the riots from a Christian perspective. Church leaders, leading professionals, and those who work with disaffected youth give their views on the causes of the riots, and offer solutions to some of the key issues the riots have brought to the fore. The story of former gang leader, Jennifer Blake, will highlight the role the Church plays in transforming hearts and minds. And we have a post-riot message from the Prime Minister, David Cameron, to the Black community. October also happens to be Black History Month, and we have inspiring stories and articles about the Black community. We interview Bazil Meade, who talks about his new book and his role as co-founder and director of world famous gospel outfit, the London Community Gospel Choir. There’s also an interview with Bishop T D Jakes, one of the world’s most famous preachers; a feature on how the Pentecostal church is travelling down memory lane on Facebook, and an interesting commentary on what we can learn from the Windrush Generation about managing our finances. Plus, we have all our regulars: Food 4 Thought, Gospel News, Cyber Corner and Charity Affairs. The content in this latest edition of Keep The Faith can be summed up as a challenging, inspirational and heart-warming read.
