Use of plants for production of human proteins, blood products, antibodies, and enzymes is on the threshold of becoming the next major development in the pharmaceutical industry as the field nears commercialization because of the efficiency and efficacy of utilizing plants to produce such molecules. Consequently, plants are poised to extend a helping leaf as they provide novel treatments and preventive strategies for a variety of infectious and viral diseases especially since they offer hope of resolving accessibility issues that plague much of the world's population.
