Publisher's Description

Welcome to the Black History Month edition of Keep The Faith, the magazine that reaches and reflects the heart of the Black community – the Church. It’s the Black community’s faith in God and trust in His word that has sustained it during the difficult, arduous, exciting and sometimes exhilarating experiences it has encountered on the journey of life. Many of the heroes and sheroes within the Black community, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jnr, Baroness Patricia Scotland, and President Barack Obama to name but a few are committed believers. With these facts in mind Keep The Faith aims to explore the heartbeat of the Black community by bringing to the fore the key debates, reflections and personalities that abound within our churches, as well as feature news stories, articles and interviews that inspire as well as inform. Within the pages of our special BHM Keep The Faith you’ll find an interview with Dr Robert Beckford, an academic who has made theology accessible to the masses. We’ve also profiled the Rt Rev Bishop Wilfred Wood, the Church of England’s first Black bishop. Other topics explored within our BHM special includes the Black Church in the 21st century, the importance of education in social progress, child protection, the importance of prayer, mission in China, the history of UK gospel , the importance of godly girlfriends and so much more. I hope you enjoy reading this month’s Keep The Faith and that it gives greater insight into the strongest institution with the Black community - The Church. Happy reading Marcia Dixon EDITOR, Keep The Faith
