Publishing and adding items to your YUDUfree Library
A quick guide to publishing digital documents, audio, bookmarks and images to the YUDUfree Library and your own Library.
YUDUfree is great tool for getting all your content online, organizing it and sharing it with friends and the rest of the world. The sections below discuss the different types of content you can 'publish' to the YUDUfree Library.
Please note:
- 'Publish' documents = create page-turning digital versions of your documents & publications and add them to your library.
- 'Publish' audio & images = upload your audio & image files and add them to your Library.
- 'Publish' bookmarks = add a web link to your library, as a visual bookmark.
Publishing documents - creating digital publications
Create digital publications, such as digital magazines, ebooks, portfolio's & more and add them to your YUDUfree Library - all free, quick and easy to do!

To publish and add items to the YUDUfree Library, you first need to sign up for a free library account, or login if you already have one. It's not essential to have signed up for your own library in order to publish a digital publication/document (you'll simply need to provide your email address and fill in a captcha), however, you have to sign up if you wish to add items to the YUDUfree Library. Signing up is free and you get loads more features and benefits, so it's well worth it and will only take a minute.
Once logged in, click the large Publish button on the navigation bar at the top of the screen. This will take you to the Publish page. On this page, choose the 'Document' button from the options available, which will take you to a page with a document upload form. Click'browse', choose your file that you wish to turn into a digital publication (this can be PDF, Word(.doc), Powerpoint(.ppt), Excel and their OpenOffice equivalents), and click Ok. Type in a title for your publication and click the Publish button.
If you aren't logged in, or don't have a library, this screen will also ask you for your email address (so we can send you a link once it's finished processing), and to fill in a [captcha] (this simply checks to make sure you're a human and not a computer!).
After publishing, if you have a YUDUfree Library, we will notify you on email that your publication has been added to the holding tray of your Library, ready for you to tag, categorise, rate and decide whether you want it to be public or private. Once you have done all that, you then simply click 'add to my library'. At this point, your digital publication will be added to your library and/or the YUDUfree Library, depending on the privacy level you have set.
If you do not have a YUDUfree Library, after publishing, you will be emailed a link which will allow you to choose what you want to do next with your digital publication.
Adding Audio to YUDUfree
If you have a YUDUfree Library, you can also add audio files to your Library to store, organize and share.
Sign up if you don't already have your own library - it's free!
You can also 'publish' music, audio files, podcasts and audio books to your library, in much the same way as digital documents (above). These must be in MP3 format (iTunes will convert other audio formats to MP3 for you ). (For best results, please stick to a constant bit rate encoding and 11,22,33, or 44 kHz).
Simply choose the Audio option on the Publish page and upload your mp3 files using the form (as above). Once uploaded, you will be automatically taken to the item summary page within your Library to name, rate, tag, set to 'public' or 'private', and of course, listen!
YUDUfree will add a default 'audio' thumbnail image, so the file is visible in your Library. You can easily change this thumbnail to whatever image you want, by clicking on the item in your library, then clicking the 'Change Thumbnail' button in the item summary page.
Adding Images to YUDUfree
You can also add photos & images to your YUDUfree Library to sort, organize, share with the world or keep private.
You must have your own library to publish images and photos on YUDUfree. Register for free here. To publish and add photos to your library, simply click on the 'image' option on the Publish page, fill in the form (same as above) to upload the image to your library. Files can be either jpeg or .png format (if using .png format, for best results, remember that some browsers have difficulty displaying PNG-24, so it's best to stick with PNG-8). Currently, you can only upload single images but we are working on multiple file upload to make it easier for you.
Again, the images will be automatically added to your Library and you will be taken directly to the item summary page to organize and sort the image properly, with tags, name, categories privacy level etc.
Adding bookmarks to YUDUfree
You can also add visual bookmarks to all of your favourite websites and store them in your YUDUfree Library.
You must have your own library to publish visual bookmarks to YUDUfree. Register for free here. Simply click on the 'website' option on the Publish page, type in or copy & paste the web URL of the site (or specific webpage) you'd like to bookmark, add a title for it and click 'Publish'.
YUDUfree will automatically create a thumbnail image as a visual bookmark, using the website homepage - and will automatically drop this into your Library for you to tag, rate and more. You can change the thumbnail to an image of your choice using the 'change thumbnail' button on the item summary page.
