Help & Advice

Create or join an Interest Group to share and interact with like-minded users.

Set up your own interest group on YUDUfree and share your passions, knowledge and expertise with other like-minded users. Collate relevant information within your interest group library, including digital publications, eBooks, podcasts, photos, images, albums and bookmarks to relevant websites. Groups also have their own discussion forum, giving you the opportunity to interact and exchange views with group members.

To create an interest group, simply click the 'create new' drop-down button in your personal library and select 'interest group', or click 'create new interest group' in the actions box of your library. When you create your group you can choose to make it either Public, Moderated or Private:

  • Public: groups are visible to everyone and any YUDUfree member can join these groups.
  • Moderated: The group is visible to all but in order to view the content or participate in the group, users must request to join.
  • Private: groups are not visible to other YUDUfree users. Users can only join private groups via direct invitation by the founder.

As the creator of the group (or 'founder'), you can decide on the level of privacy, add content, invite friends to join and even assign admin privileges to other members. It is up to you (and any administrators) to monitor the content and discussions in your group, to ensure that there are no violations to the content rules or terms and conditions of use.

Example Interest Groups.

The type of Interest Groups you can create are endless but here are some examples to get you thinking!

Public Groups: A group dedicated to cooking authentic Indian food where the members can post their favourite recipes, discuss where to buy the best ingredients, add photographs and even digital cookbooks.

Moderated Groups: A reading group that chooses a new eBook to read every week and creates a thread in the discussion forum for each one.

Private Groups: A school class working on a collaborative project.

Joining an Interest Group that another user has set up.

As a YUDUfree member, you can join other interest groups that are public and request to join ones that are moderated. You can only join a private group if you are directly invited by the group founder. Joining an interest group will mean you get access to all the content that the group holds, add your own relevant content, interact with other members via the group forum, and invite other members (public and moderated only).

You can search for groups that are of interest to you as you would search for any other item on YUDUfree. Click the groups tab in the explore page to view groups only and use the search tool at the top to search for groups of interest. You can then click to view more information about each group, join the group or request to join the group if it's moderated.
